PSL 2020 schedule announced, all 34 matches will be played in Pakistan

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Wednesday the schedule for the highly anticipated fifth edition of the Pakistan Super League that begins on February 20.

The 34 matches will be played in Karachi, Lahore, Multan and Rawalpindi. Of the 34 matches of the event, the National Stadium will organize nine matches, while the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore will host 14 matches.

The current champions, Quetta Gladiators, will open the event at the back of an opening ceremony at the Karachi National Stadium, when they will face each other with the two-time Islamabad United winners.The National Stadium will also host the Qualifier between the two best teams, while Gaddafi’s Stadium will host the two Eliminators and the final.

According to the schedule of the event, defending champions Quetta Gladiators will play three games in Lahore, four in Karachi, one in Multan and two in Rawalpindi; while Peshawar Zalmi, the winners of 2017 and the losing finalists of 2019, will be in action in one match each in Lahore and Multan, three in Karachi and five in Rawalpindi.

Islamabad United will play three matches in Lahore, two in Karachi and five in Rawalpindi; Karachi Kings will play two games in Lahore, five in Karachi, one in Multan and two in Rawalpindi; Multan Sultans will play five games in Lahore, one in Karachi, three in Multan and one in Rawalpindi; and Lahore Qalandars will play eight games in Lahore and one in Karachi and Rawalpindi.

The president of PCB, Ehsan Mani, expressed his satisfaction for the league that is played at home and said he would allow Pakistan to be recognized as a safe country.

“After bringing test cricket to Pakistan, hosting the entire Pakistan Super League is our other great achievement. I never had doubts that it was the Pakistan league and should be played against local crowds. We had made this commitment to the Pakistani people at the end of last year’s event, “he said.
